Classic Mint Juleps

Mint juleps are an iconic classic cocktail, most often associated with Kentucky Derby weekend. But don't limit yourself to one weekend a year! These are good no matter when you drink them, and very easy to m ake as well.

Ingredients
  

  • 4-5 mint leaves plus more for garnish
  • ½ oz simple syrup or two sugar cubes
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • ½ C crushed ice more or less, depending on the size of your glass

Instructions
 

  • Add the mint leaves and simple syrup to the glass you'll be serving the julep in. Muddle together until the mint is crushed and fragrant. Add the bourbon and stir. Top with crushed ice, garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

Notes

If you want to experiment, try muddling some strawberries along with the mint!
If you don't have, or don't want to make crushed ice, just fill your glass with regular ice cubes.
